About driving school Route 71

Route 71 was born from a simple idea: driving lessons should revolve around the student, not lesson packages, wasted time or standard routines.

What makes Route 71 different

At many driving schools you pay for a lesson while part of that time is spent picking up or dropping off other students.

Large lesson packages are also often sold before it is clear how many lessons someone actually needs.

Route 71 was founded on the belief that this could be done differently.

That is why we never drop off other students during your lesson, do not use large compulsory packages and track your progress with a digital progress card.

This way you know exactly where you stand, what you are working on and get the most out of every lesson.

Our story

Why Route 71 was founded

Route 71 started in 2016 from a simple conviction: driving lessons should revolve around the student.

Back then, we saw many driving schools using large lesson packages, changing instructors and lessons in which other students were regularly picked up or dropped off.

We believed this could be different.

From the start, we chose lessons without wasted time on other students, no large compulsory packages and full attention during every lesson.

Ten years later, those principles still form the foundation of Route 71.

Founder

The founder of Route 71

Route 71 was founded in 2016 by Ruşen.

While working as a driving instructor, he noticed that many students wanted more clarity, more insight into their progress and more attention during lessons.

He also noticed that many driving schools used large lesson packages and regularly picked up or dropped off other students during lessons.

Ruşen believed this could be different.

That is how Route 71 came to be: a driving school where lesson time is fully dedicated to the student, mistakes are allowed and students know exactly where they stand thanks to a digital progress card.

What began with one lesson car grew into a team of four staff members and three lesson cars, while the original vision remains unchanged.

Our vision

How we look at driving lessons

We believe driving lessons should not only be educational, but also pleasant and relaxed.

Making mistakes is part of learning to drive. That is why students should feel comfortable during lessons and dare to ask questions whenever something is unclear.

We also believe you should know where you stand in your training. That is why we use a digital progress card that is discussed regularly.

This way you know which parts you have mastered, where more attention is needed and which steps remain before the practical exam.

During your lesson we do not drop off other students. The lesson time you pay for is used entirely for your own experience behind the wheel.

From one lesson car in 2016 to a team of four staff members and three lesson cars in 2026. The same vision — full lesson time for the student, no large packages and clear insight into progress — with more capacity to guide students in Leiden and the surrounding area.

Experience

Route 71 in practice

Every week we guide more than 100 students during driving lessons, trial lessons, exams and refresher courses.

This shows us every day which challenges students face and which guidance works best in practice.

The information on this website is based not only on theory, but on our daily experience with students from Leiden and the surrounding area.

Practical experience

What students value in a driving school

Since 2016 we have held hundreds of trial lesson and intake conversations every year. We consistently hear the same wishes:

  • not picking up or dropping off other students
  • insight into training progress
  • clear explanations
  • fair prices
  • an instructor who allows mistakes

Many students who switch from another driving school mention the same frustrations: changing instructors, picking up other students and instructors spending too much time on their phone instead of paying attention to the student.

That is why full attention during the lesson matters to us. The lesson revolves around the student, not the instructor's phone.

Progress

Always insight into your progress

A common frustration among students is not knowing exactly how far along they are in their training.

That is why we use a digital progress card that is discussed regularly.

It shows which parts you have mastered, which situations still need attention and which steps remain before the practical exam.

This way you always know where you stand and avoid surprises during your training.

Our approach

What we stand for

No dropping off other students

Your driving lesson is entirely about your development. That is why we never use your lesson time to pick up or drop off other students.

No large lesson packages

We do not believe in large compulsory packages. You only pay for what you actually need.

Digital progress card

During your training we track your progress clearly, so you always know where you stand.

Making mistakes is allowed

Mistakes are often where you learn the most. We create an environment where students dare to ask questions and can learn without unnecessary pressure.

Educational and enjoyable

Driving lessons should be effective as well as enjoyable. When you feel relaxed, you often learn faster and with more confidence.

Honest advice

We give honest advice about your progress, exam planning and the number of lessons you are likely to need.
